Here's a pic of the bits. Under the wing in front of this is a small accumulator tank which comes off the vacuum pump from the alternator  I'm told.
When I remove any of the pipes with the engine running, there is definately a vacuum. The T piece / switch to the left is definately clicking loudly when I operate the switch.
Thanks for the replies so far :D

After lots of grovelling around following all the vacuum pipes and checking them, I came across another small vacuum tank . Following and checking the pipe from this tank, I found a small split in it. I removed the whole length of pipe and replaced it and hey presto, centre difflock is working again :)
Obviously the system failing at the time of me jet washing the engine bay must be coincedental. I'm still no wiser to how it's been set up and why ??

		Good to hear Jerry...
You have me curious now. I know there was a small accumulator tank fitted under the drivers side wing top vent for the rear maxi drive locker, but where was the other tank located ?

I don't know why the previous owner modified it to be so complicated but it never had any real issues with his mods. I suppose you realise that several of the other vacuum valves operate the fresh/recirc and vent flaps for the A/C.

Did you get the A/C regassed ? It was never real cool for me but it did work and make a difference. I'm guessing the last time it was regassed was around 2001.

Hi Rod, the other tank is just forward of the maxi drive tank nearer the firewall, it's a tricky one to spot  but it's all good now.
I went to get the air con checked out, but to cut a long story short it needs a new compressor and fittings = $900.00 ( the old unit had wriggled free of it's mounts....... )
Also found that the "brake proportionary switch / valve" is now leaking ($350.00  ) and quite a bit of play in the radius arms so they are next on the hit list.
I gave up on the clutch slave unit and let a garage fit it, boy did he swear !!!I'm now methodically going through everything and checking / replacing bits as necessary.

Yes, that beast chews front radius bushes very quickly. I don't think that the weight of the isuzu lump helps.

Yes, the clutch is a pain to bleed. Took several hours one saturday and eventually 3 people to do it. I think pressure/vacuum bleeding is probably the go.

Your brake master cylinder is supposedly sleeved with stainless by the PO.
