    Interesting...clutch part Nos

I just rang Don Kyatt Isuzu about the turbo (8970317592) and non-turbo(5312200240) pressure plate part numbers. Apparently both numbers are for the same part, it's just that one number supersedes another. The plates are the same until 1987 where a different plate is used but it's still the same on both turbo and non-turbo.
    Anyone else come across this??

Those numbers are NOT for the same part - they are wrong.

8970317592 is the latest part number for the Turbo pressure plate (it supersedes PN 8941322320). From my investigations a few months ago 5312200240 is still the current part number for the non-turbo pressure plate.

If you have a standard set up and are not running an Isuzu box then the clutch plate itself is a Land Rover part and not an Isuzu part.

With the 4 speed box (LT95 with a 10 spline input shaft) there is a turbo and non-turbo clutch plate available from LR as they supplied both types of engine in front of the 4 speed box, e.g. the non turbo 110 and the turbo'd 6X6 Perentie variant. I have seen the different PN's for the 2 clutch plates as I spent a while trawling through the microfiche's at the local LR dealer.

As far as I know Land Rover never supplied a 4BD1T (i.e. in the 6X6 Perentie) with the LT85 five speed box (23 spline) and as a consequence only one clutch plate is available from LR, which is for the non-turbo application. It is part number AYG3463.

See my thread from a few months ago for more info:

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Jon,
I rang MR automotive to check with them. Apparently the 8941322320 number is the oldest and supersedes to 5312200240, which has now superseded to 8970317592.
Their books show that the 6x6 clutch is 8970317592.
The 4X4 number is 5312200240 (this agrees with my military parts book).
Both Isuzu and the Landover spare part computer systems point all of these numbers to the same part...8970317592.

I rang back the Isuzu dealer and had a longer chat. He told me that the Isuzu trucks also use the same plate in both turbo and non-turbo versions. The only time the plate changed was in 1987 on.

I was very surprised to hear this but as two independent suppliers are telling me the same story (and that only one part is available) I cannot argue... (Well I can and did, but it didn't get me anywhere as the one and only part available is on its way)

I don't know what more I can do

Around this time they changed from 275mm to 300mm clutches.
I have the 275mm, it has no problem with over 500Nm.

The 4BE1 still used the 275mm clutch plate in later trucks. Might be worth checking that number as it may be the last word in 275mm clutches.
