Yes but when it goes and the wire threads get stuck on and in the firewall, you get open throttle. Driving through Newcastle at 0600hrs in 2 gear on full noise was interesting:eek::eek::eek:

Luckily I had bought the replacement and it was in the car.

A quick Google shows it up as the part for V8 Defenders (and, I assume, the V8 County).

I bought a spare one, I can confirm part number NRC5494 is correct. Or at least that's what I was given by LR spares when I asked for one for my Isuzu County - I haven't fitted it yet, but it does have the threaded bit on the engine end of things and looks just like the one that's fitted.

I thought $40 was too much considering it's a bit of clothes line with two connections

I kept the connections off the old unit for next time.

I see the aftermarkets ones in the UK are about 6 quid vs genuine at 45 quid.

:eek::eek: I must have been ripped off, my genuine LR one cost over $100! I did think this was very expensive at the time, but *really* wanted a spare for a remote trip I was doing. A good spare to carry though and nice to have one under the drivers seat just in case! :D

I paid $35 for mine today (which will hopefully arrive on Friday so I can tell you if NRC5494 is the correct part).

Who cares? It's less than half the price and theres probably a 99.9% chance that it will last more than half the life of the LR genuine part, so he's in front.

Probably built in the same factory in down town Sth Korea or Mumbai anyway.
