Thats real good value providing the filters are good quality. I wonder if the other filter is available on ebay as well. Thanks Murray
I just paid $25 for a Ryco Z155X spin on oil filter for my 4BD1T. There are some AC Delco equivilents on ebay at the moment for $2ea for a box of 12. OIL FILTERS x 12 Has anyone used AC Delco filters before ? Any good ? Not so good ?
12 filters is 60,000 kms worth of oil changes, so it's a good saving at 2 bucks each.
Cheers, Murray

AD-delco are a GM approved alternative service part supplier, running an AC01 oil filter on my falcon atm, no dramas so far
Delco are good, I use them![]()
I worked for a Vauxhall, (Holden), dealership in England for several years. AC Delco where the standard oil, air and fuel filters used on all services. Never known a problem.
Pretty standard use in the England.
Just need to make sure they are genuine AC Delco and they have not been sitting for years.
AC Delco aren't too bad.
These are the bypass filter, so need changing more frequently than the Z333 (which is only there to catch the rocks anyway).
Thanks for the find!
I don't know if I am able to recommend an interval. It depends on a number of factors - e.g. I have found huge differences in soot generation across the same engine type. (So the bottom line is I wouldn't want to state a number).
In general, oil filters are just like air filters, the longer you leave them in the more efficient they will become. However, Full Flow filters (e.g. Z333 on a 4BD1/T) will bypass if the pressure drop gets to high. It is of course not good to have a filter that is bypassing, especially if that is your only filter!!! Bypass filters will just filter a smaller portion of the oil as they load with crud.
There is a splitting of the flow between the full flow and bypass filters based on the pressure drop across the full flow filter and the size of the orifice (inlet) to the bypass filter. So the proportion of flow each one sees will change as the filters load up.
Since the FF filter is just to catch the rocks, I would prefer to leave it a bit longer and change the bypass filter more frequently, so a larger portion of the oil goes through the bypass - even if it is not at quite as high an efficiency.
(Edit - I am sure you knew most/all of the above Dougal, I just added the explanation for anyone else who might read this).
fwiw, AC-Delco are part of the General Motors business empire, and are covered by a 2 year/50,000km warranty same as any other GM part.....
