    Grubb,

Do the Isuzu starters work with landy ring gear? Or are you talking about if the adaptor plate and landy flywheel housing is used?

I have have Isuzu fly wheel and housing but a rather worn ring gear, and no isuzu starter. Was thinking of getting 12/24v truck starter and using the landy flywheel?

    Hey Ramon,

Yes the pitch on the ring gear is the same. The only thing different is the number of teeth on the Landrover and Isuzu starters - from memory 11 and 10 respectively, or something like that, not that this matters one bit.

So yes to confirm, you can use the Isuzu Truck starter on the landrover ring gear.

How is the conversion coming along? Would be great to see some pics of the rig.

To add to the questions, have you looked at a 6-speed conversion yet?

No haven't looked at it and am not planning too. I'm happy with my 58% lower first gear and slightly quicker top.

Sure you can get a slightly wider (~10%) spread if you choose the right 6 speed, and the extra gear to choose is nice. But with the torque of a turboed 4BD1 it shouldn't matter too much which gear you choose... The MSA are common, strong and I have found quite cheap, so suit the purpose well.

Unless of course someone wants and commits to a 6 speed then I could be tempted = Ben.

Some of the 6 speed boxes are the same but longer, the gearshift mechanism would likely work fine but the transfer box might not end up in the same position.

I would be very intereted in a six speed canversion - MYY6S would be ideal - internal ratios 2-6 are very similar to an R380 (my R380 works extremely well behind the 4BD1T but would like a gearbox that is indistructable) PM me a phone number and I will give you a call

    MYY-6S ?

    what are the ratios ?

I really like the ratios on the MYY-6P

    5.979:1
    3.434:1
    1.862:1
    1.297:1
    1.000:1
    0.774:1
    5.701:1

It's in the current NPR250, but I'm guessing it would be $$ as it's so new ?
Should also be lighter than an MSA 'box.

Slightly higher top gear than the 6P, otherwise the same.
