Just wondering if there is a certain flywheel housing to look for or do all flywheel housings off Isuzu motors fit the 4bd ? What I'm wondering is if I get a flywheel housing off say a 4be1,4bc2,4hk1,4bb1 or 6bb1 etc etc would they bolt to the back of the 4bd1 and also be able to bolt the mxa to it? The problem is that when I received my gearbox it was claimed to be off a 4be1 so if I could get hold of the flywheel housing off a 4be1 all I should need to hope for then would be that it bolts to the back of the 4bd1...I always seem to get terrible answers from truck wreckers

All H series are completely different, they have a rear mounted gear-train.
All B series will fit to some degree, but expect differences in pattern between industrial, 6B and 4B series truck housings.
    Expect differences in length too.

All 4B NPR truck housings should be the same. 4BC2, 4BD1, 4BD1T, 4BD2T etc.
Pre NPR (4BB1, 4BC1 etc) I wouldn't expect to be the same.

    Thanks dougal...
The 6cyl housings are as you suggested longer not that I have measured them but by eye they look longer...I am hoping to pot it right so that the input shaft will fit the original spigot so that no adapters are required however I will need to machine up a spigot bush that has a ID of around 19mm to accommodate the new smaller input shaft diameter,I plan on using cinted bronze or similar...
There is a flywheel housing for sale that says it fits a 4bd2 but it suits an auto gearbox so I'm hesitant on if it would suit the mxa..

Isuzu use a bearing instead of a bushing for the spigot. The bushing was only in the landrover adaption.
The US guys engines are almost all auto, the flywheel bellhousing is the same pattern as the manual but some of them take 3 bolt starter motors instead of two bolt.

I have a bearing laying around from a clutch kit that was not used but I am not sure what the advantage of a bearing would be compared to the bush? Personally the easiest way would be making a new bush as the old one lasted for 400k...I'll post up the link of the housing

Surely you can find one closer than that. Michigan.
But yeah, 3 bolt starter motor. You've probably already got one with your landrover housing.

The bolt pattern on the back of 4B and 6B engines are the same.

The flywheel housing pic in the link is what the US got with the 3 bolt, 12 volt starter. Aus Isuzu's have a 2 bolt, 24 volt starter. For that housing, I would expect the bell housing side bolt pattern to be the same as Aus Isuzu's.

There are differences in the bell housing side bolt pattern. Industrial engines usually have an SAE 3 pattern for mounting pumps, etc.

grub makes an adaptor ring so that a MSA box can bolt to the Land Rover flywheel housing. IMHO that would be your better option.

Thanks guys...Sheldon has been hard to get in touch with lately that's all...I have got some alloy lined up and a hydro cutter close by I was contemplating making my own adaptor ring but thats if I cannot get one off Sheldon...i am unsure of the pattern on the mxa but I assume it would be the same as you just mentioned..with the adaptor ring how thick would it approximately be ? Does it require a spacer on the crank to be made for the spigot ?
Once again sorry about the questions but I'm trying to get things underway on driveline as the motor is almost sorted...

When I got the adaptor for the MSA to Chev ,I gave Dellows the box dimensions and he said it was SAE no 3. He already had a pattern.
