yep
I'm doing a central Oz trip later next year & was always going to take the V8 County Tray, as it has the works & was set up for desert touring, but the idea of going on a jaunt in the Isuzu seems attractive- after all, there is no rush.
I'd have Goodrich 235x85 All terrains or 7.50 x 16 Goodyear all terrains & a lt95 . I'm told we are going the easy way.
How would it handle the trip?
yep

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
will certainly use less fuel. It won't be as quiet as the petrol. You should get less dust getting into your gear with the wagon.
You need to do all the usual vehicle preparations.
If it's corrugated roads things like shocks can give up. Check the amount of meat left on the rear brake shoes/drums and consider replacing the snail cams as the snail cams can loosen off with corrugated roads especially if they are at the end of adjustment because the shoes/drums have nothing left. I would do a coolant flush and probably replace radiator hoses and bypass hose and keep the old ones for a spare (unless these are fairly new). Sand driving at low speed can cause higher than normal engine temp. Best make sure everything is good with cooling system.
I went with a group (V8110/LT95 & 2A) across the Tanami and both did the trip pretty easily.

Thanks, I was wondering whether some ooomph was needed but feel better about this now.
The county has just had a major refurb, new radiator, rear brake pads, gearbox incl taper brgs, springs, shocks, not much left undone actually. The fuel is the major drawcard in favour of the station wagon. It gets registered this week... Yeehah![]()
The easy way, would be west to east, so long as you drop tyres nice and low, it will be fine, its quite an easy crossing![]()
