I'm keen to hear about this too. Not that there is anything wrong with my TD5, its just that it would be really nice to have better performance and less lad under the bonnet than what a chipped and intercooled TD5 provides in a heavy D2 that I'd like to keep for quite a few years more.

What would be nice sometime is the TDV8 version and its gearbox which I hope would fit.
    Cheers

I too would love to have that plant in the deefer but wouldn't we have rego issues, you and I know that the breaks on a deefer are quite a bit more than adequate but we would have to prove that in order to rego a deefer with 600torques wouldn't we ?

While it's probably best to upgrade the brakes to cope, the RTA are usually just concerned with capacity.

If you take out a 2500cc single turbo diesel & fit a 2700cc single turbo diesel, it's within the 15% increase allowed. Of course the actual fitment would need to be engineered but the engine itself would be fine in NSW.

Hi Loanrangie, you would be suprised what will fit under the bonnet. I am currently running a Chev 6.2 V8 Diesel (N/A) in my 85 County. Have just brought in an AM General 6500 Optimiser Turbo V8 diesel (250HP) and a 4L85e auto transmission to go in it. Has anyone on here made an adaptor to fit a 4L80e or 4L85e to the LT230? The marks adaptor is too long.

Wait a few years and there should be a plentiful supply of TDV6 motors out of Ford Territorys.

Seen the chev conversions but i'm not a fan of those big lumps, the tdv6 would be a nicer upgrade and much more refined.

So I'll just need to find a 110 Puma with damage to the rear roof nd an exploded engine (yeah I know) to justify ctting into a 100" ute.

    Cool.

Really old thread, but interesting. Has anyone here done this? Territory V6's go for way less than a TD5.
