    TDV6 into a.....

into a pretty much anything if what I heard the other day is true.

Apparently MOTEC are working on a "standalone" ecu that will let you put the TDV6 into anything you want.

Syntex in the UK have already done it...

    Standalone, Laptop programmable ECU

    Wiring loom...

Mounting kits for D1, RRC, P38...

    D2 coming soon..

    Transmission adapters available....

Should be awesome... I'm waiting for their reply about integrating into a D2

Seems there are a few companies selling stand alone EMS systems. And quite a few conversions already out there...

Be good if you could keep the 6 speed auto as well and adapt it up to the transfer case

This might be a stupid comment... but here goes.

Whilst I would love a TdV6, wouldn't the cost be prohibitive and a cheaper (but not Land Rover) engine be simpler/ more feasable?

Having seen the list price of a Td5 I would hate to think how much a TdV6 would be, cant imagine there would be too many D3/4/RRS around.

Dont get me wrong, love the idea, just think it would be $$$

I don't think other engines of similar technology would cost any less than the TDV6. In the UK you can get low mileage TDV6s with everything for as low as 2000 pounds and TDV8s for about 3000 pounds.

Recently a complete TDV6 did sell for 250 pounds on ebay.

Short TDV6 engines have been for sale in Aust for $2500 but it would have taken a lot extra to make it a complete usable engine.

Thanks Garry, I guess that is a reasonable price. I expected an extra zero.

Sleepy at the moment , yes the TDV6 would be a bit more expensive than a more common diesel as they are mainly in the d3/4 , RRsport , jags and a few pug's and citrus top of the line models.BUT The new territory has just been released with the 2.7tdv6 so with the high numbers of those produced there will be a far greater number of 2.7td's turning up at the wreckers yard near you and me.
