Series 3 body swap onto 2wd 1980’s hilux chassis

As much as this may upset some enthusiasts I’m About to begin the mission of putting a recently purchased series 3 lwb body onto a modified 2wd hilux chassis that has a 500hp Toyota 1jz motor already mounted in frame.
Has this Swap been done before And if so any pointers and advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

If you intend to use it on road, first step would be to talk to your engineer!

By the 1980s, there were getting to be quite a few ADRs to meet.

What year is the Hilux Chassis? Early or late 80's? Fitting an older body onto a newer chassis can be problematic as far as ADR's go, but if both the chassis and body originally shared the same ADR's and were built around the same time then it should be possible - I've never heard of this being done, so your Engineer would be the place to start about what they want to see as well.

Would make an interesting project - if you proceed with it, be sure to post some pics. It might offend some purists, but it sounds like a great idea IMO.

The engine bay in a S3 is not overly wide, so good luck shoe-horning the turbos in. I'll however spend some time contemplating 500bhp in my S3 SWB. Go for it!

As mentioned , whatever you do consult an engineer at the outset , otherwise you've got buckleys of getting it legal.

Not my cup of tea but its been done, there is this Series 2 in Gippsland getting around on a shortened 2WD Hilux, Engineered & rego .

In Shepparton theres a 56 Dodge truck on a 2WD Holden Rodeo , again Engineered & reg'd Appeals more to me than Landy that can't go offroad.
