I'd say the driver is doing a good job to keep it on the ground.

I had a 4 spd manual 1972 GB galant that I shoehorned a 2.6 astron into, ran a 3.5:1 Auto GE sigma diff centre (Galant 1.6 was 3.9:1) and 14" rims from a skyline/ 240K.
Drilled and drained the shocks, and concocted my own brew of shock oil, played with carbs and made exhausts...
TOOO fast for non power assist brakes...
Good fun drifting in dirt; in top gear

Deadly as. The GA and GB galants weighed in at about 950Kg. Got into trouble a few times on loose surfaces and wet roads.
My 2.6 Astron was N/A, an associate at work at the time was building one in a GD galant, 1976 model, turboed with a sigma 5 spd and LSD. He planned on retaining stock Sigma 14" steel rims etc so it was a bit of a sleeper.
Like you said, best fun I had had on 4 wheels at the time.
