    Even if the cars were slower the driver need to have skills back then.

    I have had the glorious experience of being on the track with this car - or one of its sister cars - from 1956, at Phillip Island historics a few years ago. It was driven by Win Percy, BTCC winner. The noise of him going past me in the wet flat chat through the kink into Honda, with the tail of the Jag wriggling two foot either way, is something I'll always remember...

    Utterly brilliant. I have never seen that before thanks for sharing

    That Jag sounds sensational, and I love Hawthorn's commentary around the course ('typical French!') ... also the comment of being flat out at about 175mph, sounds slow(ish!) but when you think most cars of the day struggled to reach 100 it puts it into perspective
