Which begs the question what IS the future of V8 Supercars once Ford closes down (no more Falcon) and Holden stops (inevitably) building Commodores....

Id say, and this is a huge guess, that its like NASCAR and one of the reasons they made the change to a control type chassis and full silhouette body. In America the cars they race aren't anything but a figment of a production cars imagination. This new V8 format allows them to sell imported front wheel drive family cars that will replace the Falcon and Commodore yet still race a representation
There is some truth in what you say. There has to be, because it would be impossible to have any form of "parity" with any of the cars, even Ford & Holden, as they are made on the production line.Quote:

Mention has been made of the Nissan engine....I believe it'll be a while before that engine is competitive.
There has, I believe, been a submission put to V8 Supercars, to allow 2 door cars to race. I believe this will eventually be approved, & so will allow the Mustang to race when it is sold RHD here in 2016, which may also enable Ford to continue in the competition.

i also am enjoying this season with the mercs and nissans, next year will be better again with the volvo's.
bmw came out yesterday saying they would not join the series because the engine rules would mean then use something quite antiquated compared to thier current stock of motors. so i think the next rule change will be making the engine limits more in line with what the companies have already.
next year for me will be good to see the nissan gtr at the bathurst 12hr, looking forward to that. :cool:
