Im told the eco boost Falcoon goes as well as the non turbo 6 and handles heaps better.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SHMBO) would aim for the cheaper model. On paper it looks interesting, and even the reviews aim for more spirited driving. I do have a mountain range to climb and go back down for work, and the turbo 4 is apparently good on twisty roads. I can't spend that kind of money, and always wonder if.....
The 5l V8 is the only model I would consider for this car.

    Cheers,
    Ken

The turbo four was fitted to some Falcons. I'm told they went well. I'm also told some people are getting them and installing them in old Escorts.

The review I read said the V8 was very good,in a straight line, even has factory line lockers on the brakes to do factory approved burnouts, how cool is that!!!!
All they need to do is get the motor up to aussie FPV specs!!!! We kill the yanks
The turbo 4 killed it when it had to steer.
Im betting the turbo4 will be the base model.

Like most Fords only good in a straight line.
Line lockers are illegal on road cars in Australia.

    Thumbs up

Mustang will be good for Ford Aus, as it is in other parts of the World where it is sold.
Turbo 4?,...a waste of time IMHO. If ya want "economy" then ya shouldn't be buying a Mustang.
Nothing wrong with a Turbo 4, it's a good engine,...in the right car. It was a TERRIBLE failure in the Falcon. If ya don't believe me, see how many Falcons have been sold with this engine. My info is that apart from those supplied to Ford reps as their company car, "hardly any" have been sold. Additionally, to get the same performance as that achieved by the Falcon 4L six, the turbo 4 had to be worked VERY hard, with consequential fuel consumption similar to the 6!
V8 "sound" in the cabin,....lots of manufacturers do that, including HSV!
Ain't saying the "new" Mustang will be perfect, it is what it is, but itll find plenty of acceptance with Aussie buyers.
    Pickles.

My neighbour has a 2008 model (as well a magnificent 66 convertible) - I cannot see what is so great about them - just a typical amercian car - with the Falcon gone they might sell OK - they will certainly need to do better than the last time Ford sold the Mustang here in the early 2000s.

The new Mustang comes with a "burnout mode" setting which locks it for you...
