Great entertainment. The rain made it about skill not speed so that was good to watch.
It was so entertaining that for the first time ever, I sat and watched the whole race...full of action and unpredictability, twists and turns in strategy, best laid plans out the window...it had it all...bring on the rain for next year!!
Blood amazing,
That 97 went up the escape road at least 7 times,Matt had it spun on the mountain, and did a 3 pointer to get going again, bloody lucky not to get T boned.
Then as you said,it was off into the weeds towards the end, while leading, then stormed back to eventually get 5th i think.
Thats Bathurst[smilebigeye][smilebigeye]
What went wrong with Wingecups car?I missed the bit when it was in the garage.maybe we will never know.
Whincupp's car dropped a rocker. They did get it ourt for 2 laps before the end so he could be classed as a finisher with 75% race distance completed, pick up a few points and become equal second in the championship with Scott McLaughlan.
Was a great race. Very Happy to see Erebus get a 1st and 4th, well deserved. Great team and very approachable. Takes a bit to get used to Daves quirky sense of humour, but is a nice guy.
Cracking race, great result for Reynolds, Youlden and Erebus. A shame for McClaughlin. Can't believe Moffat went so far without stacking it. How good were Waters/Stanaway and Mostert/Owen. Some great young drivers giving it a serious go. What's the story with Slade - that's at least the second time I've seen him delerious with heat exhaustion.
Cool suit failure, even though they were putting dry ice in the box when he pitted it was not working.
But does show the young guys don't have the same stamina as the guys in the 60.70s and even 80's. Having said all that they should have gotten him out of the car.
They actually do have the same stamina, actually, if ya look at the training & fitness stuff that these guys do, I'd say a whole heap more.
The problem with today's cars is, unlike cars of earlier eras, the windows do not wind down, and so there is no way to get air in the car, so ya've got temps of 50C+, and no air circulation,..never a problem with earlier stuff,....IMHO of course.
Pickles.
Yes and no. They took out both the passenger side and drivers side windows in an attempt to cool him down.
Remember no cool suits in the early days. Only real difference was helmets, you could wear an open face. Not sure how you come to the conclusion not an issue in earlier stuff, the only thing they could do different was windows down. Look at guys like Brock that could drive a whole race well over 6 1/2 hrs. There are obviously a lot more variables including higher car speed etc
All that aside they should have pulled him from the car as his core temp was through the roof even visibly.
