The fly days for March is 22nd - 23rd at the Temora aviation museum. This co incides with the 60th at Cooma, it's not to far away. A fly by of Cooma by a Spitfire would be very nice, or a drive from Cooma to see them could be arranged.

Nah GT40's are rubbish. VN Commodores are WAY better...
Oops sorry I thought I was in the "engine conversion" thread. Silly me.
Apparently the GT40's smelt like petrol when you were in the cab. That'd be a little bit disconcerting knowing you were surrounded by a fine mist of highly inflammable petrol droplets, near all those hot engines, potential sparks etc etc. Damn those cars look good and go like scalded cats though ! The new "GT40" thing that Ford made (and Clarkson bought) is NOTHING LIKE these things. Its heavier, wider and crappier.
Cheers :)
I've got a "Sounds of Goodwood" CD somewhere. It is a CD with commentry and the sounds of particular vehicles that have attended the Festival of Speed. Unfortunately it has a scratch in it, but it still plays my favourite - the BRM H-16 ... awsome in surround sound! ;);)
Here's a version that has been posted on the net.
The Sound of BRM - Video
I also have a Goodwood DVD that has some hot-laps in a variety of cars - one of which is the GT-40 ...very nice!!!:D
What was the Ford thing that Brocky kissed the tree in, wasnt it a GT40

the best race engine I've ever heard was an old FIAT straight 8 at the '91 Oz GP.
Fangio was there too in an old Silver Arrow Merc which hands down has to be the best smelling race car ever !
We'd all crowd the fence and inhale when he went past, but the old FIAT had an amazing sound, probably the next best thing to a Merlin. :D
There's more...
Guess what it is...
