That guy came so close to having the top of his head torn off by that spit, awsome!
I have a thing for Catalina Flying boats and my brother sent me a dvd for xmas about cats and theres a similar thing, 2 old coots sitting in a boat out on the lake totally oblivious to life, in the background you can see the Cat coming into land on the lake and its bearing down on these two guys who havent noticed and are still fishing away you think the Cat is just gonna mow through them its that close but the Cat pulls up in the last second the tip of the guys rod touched the hull as it roared over head, it frightened the christ out the two guys didnt know whether to jump or pray! amazing stuff.

As for noise, power and wetting your pants . There is nothing better than stepping into a 600kg car with 780hp and just as much torque and stamping on the loud pedal . These cars will push your guts into your head in one small move of the right footAnd will complete a qtr mile in just 11 seconds on dirt in an oval shaped track

Miura, the first, and my favourite Supercar.
I once met a mechanic on the Dutton Rally who did his time on Lambo's, and had rebuilt a Miura for a client that nearly killed the both of them after the owner lost it big time at high speed.
He reckoned the things were incredibly noisy inside and just waiting to catch you out at speed.

I have photos of Nev. Morris' RR built Merlin ex a WWII RAAF Mosquito running in his shed taken from about 6' away. Couldn't sync the shutter with the flames from the exhaust stubs. Not as noisy as I remember. I worked on them in the early 60's in three pointer hydroplanes.
A Chrysler Hemi 426 piulling over 6000 rpm under load takes some beating for sounds, but the best I ever came across was in 1972. John Drake took me to the Champion Spark Plug Development Centre in Long Beach where they had an Offy 159 turbo on the dyno. It was showing 1200 horsepower and 70 inches of boost. You could practically feel and taste the noise even through double filled block walls with observation windows of double glazed heavy perspex. They said they had had one on the dyno with the wastegate tied shut and it showed 1400 horsepower for 10 minutes before they thought they had better shut down. I believe it was one of Dan Gurney's engines.

Yes, that is a late model with the narrow valve angle and some sort of electronic ignition which replaced magnetos as boost and output rose and magnetos could not cope. Gordon Clough of Brisbane, who has a number of Offy midgets (engines and cars), was offered one of these about 18months ago for US$25000. Was supposed to be new or near new. Gordon had an Offy midget engine made into a glass topped coffee table.
