I remember reading the original General Lee was privately imported in Australia as was a Charger convertible that had something to do with the show according to Unique Cars magazine anyway, about 15 years ago I bought a nice 440 Wedge and ex police motor and we screwed it into a VJ Val ute with a stock 727 auto, stock borgwarner diff and stock 14 inch rims with 205 tyres, this thing was a laugh you could bury the foot at 100 k and she would spin the wheel ( yes wheel it was an open BW not a slippery) , traction was laughable and in the dirt paddocks she was a real hoot, fastest spot lighting buggy around, it could never have been registered it was purely a bush basha and thatit was, served us well for two years on my mates farm , we ended up with an old Suzuki 4wd so I sold the motor which went into a Centura and did well here on the strip for a few years the body is still out the farm, I use it to dial in my 303, the big Chryslers wether they are the 400/440 Wedges or the 426 hemis are no doubt the best engines ever made, the only other engine in my book that is worthy of note is the Ford 427 Side oiler, that is a serious engine.
