This is a modified car where as the XJ220 was the standard production version so in mine mind this does not really count.

: Faster Pussycat - Jaguar XFR pounces on Bonneville, hits 225 mph!

In its spare time while reinventing the company and settling in with a new owner, Jaguar's boffins somehow found time to take their new XFR to the Bonneville Salt Flats for a top speed run last November.
The Paul Gentilozzi-driven XFR had been modified with the appropriate safety gear (roll cage, fire suppression system, etc.), along with a sizable low-mounted rear spoiler and a derestricted ECU that allowed the supercharger to yield around 600 horsepower thanks to a bit more boost. So-equipped, the 503-horsepower sedan blew through the double-ton to top out at 225.675 miles-per-hour, solidly trouncing the previous Jaguar land speed record of 217.1 mph set by an XJ220 at Nardo back in 1992 with Martin Brundle at the wheel. For reference, the standard XFR is electronically limited to 155 mph.
Incredibly, the Bonneville run was completed on stock Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, and the Rocketsports-prepared XFR was still registering a bit of wheelspin at that speed.Check out the high-res,

I was going to say, faster than a 220, but as gary said, it isn't production stock. I'd be more intrested if they had just taken the limiter off.
doesn't stop me wanting one though!

adding a spoiler makes it non-stock?

gotta remember, rollcage and fire extinguishers would be mandatory fitment for salt flat racing....
as for the spoiler, even a small lip spoiler on the bootlid makes a HUGE difference at those kinda speeds, i was forced to take the spoiler off my falcon due to rust in the mounts, and the difference it made at 120MPH is shocking...... nevermind what would happen if i could get the old girl to hit 225MPH...... methinks i'd need much more efficient front and rear spoiler kit..... 155MPH was interesting with the stock body and suspension
i also think 225MPH in a 15yo falcon would take a lot more testicular fortitude than i can manage anyway..........
besides which, the XJ220 was designed for high speeds and had the spoiler built in
AND this car is speed limited by law,,
no special engine mods,
some safety gear,
and the NORMAL ECU program.
its a bit silly to compare a two handed boxer to the guy with one arm tied behind his back,,
