was looking in the 4 sales of a few (australian) off road sites the other night

and found my old race car,, advertised as " and a spare car" in one of the adds,, so you can imagine what condition it was in

and some idiot had painted it green,,

    it just looked so sad,,,

    "What" has already been stated,,

but from hmm, let me count backwards,,,

'87 to, er, '01 it raced in a CAMS class called "2WD Production Enduro" a bit in NSW, a bit in QLD and one in SA

the car won the NSW state rally championship in '86
and I won the QLD Off Road Short Course title in '93

I only stopped because of a stress problem with my eye,,
sold the car, bought a boat , changed jobs, went fishing for a couple of years.

    Still navigating in this-

The Dato was only ever a bit of fun,,
after riding with someone that can really pedal, I understood that early,, but,, I still miss 591,, most of my car control came from doing the hard yards,, 3-400 racing kays in a day teaches you lots of things,, and I felt most of them thru the seat of my pants,,

Just to clarify it. It's more common name is a "Datsun 1600" The model (like most Dato's) is a series of numbers and letter/s. Eg. 180B, 120Y, 260C, 720 (ute) and, more recently 350Z. The 1600 was not commonly known (outside of motorsport) as the P510 (1600cc) and (the less common 1800cc) H510.
Nostalga has got me, so I will try and dig out some old memories.
