I reckon it is worth a play for sure, it just paled in comparison to Modern Warfare. You may find a torrent to help you out somewhere if you aren't adverse to that kind of thing..

I just finished COD4 Mod Warfare,,,
    hate the checkpoint saving,,
    love the high tech weapons,,

still not sure why you would send umpteen blokes into save a tank,,,

wtf are the other tanks doing??

    as is normal these days,,
these games take themselves VERY seriously,,

    not one "COOL!" moment.

    7 out of ten.

I must say i gave COD4 a hands-down 9.5 out of ten when i first played it, absolutely blew me away. Got it with a bundle when first got a PS3, started playing at 6pm that night, couldnt put it down until i finished at 6am the next day.

Hey Vlad keep an eye on ebay they come through fairly regularly there at good prices. Sometimes brand spankers as well.

series 3 yeah I might have to do that, considering that I might have THEORETICALLY downloaded 5.5Gb of torrent, destroying my monthly allowance to a fair degree, and then after installation finding it doesn't work - continually giving me the "Needs to shut down.. send a error report to microsoft etc" message ! aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh

I got COD4 and played it numerous time. Tried playing the levels differently, trying a different tack and sometimes worked other didnt.

So what is the diff between 4 and 6? Is it graphics only, or is the game smarter?

Played online a few times, got my butt well and trully kicked... obviously not good at these like the youn' ones.

It's a completely new game...new story and characters (follows on from cod4 though).

I have only played it for a couple of hours, very impressive. Everything is the same as cod4, except just a little bit better. Probably 2-3 times as many weapons available. Wow I really sound like a nerd, maybe my girlfriend is right!

There is one mission that is particularly grisly and almost sickening to play.. a lot of people are up in arms about it so they built in an option at the start if you wanted to skip the mission entirely or not

finished single player on PC the other day.
absolutely LOVED it! storyline and characters continue on from CoD4, i got to the end and felt like i'd just watched an awesome action movie

BUT, multiplayer on PC...dont get me started. In short, if you're buying it on PC to play online, forget about it. 9 times out of 10 it's simply unplayable with their new P2P system, and there's NOTHING you can do about it...
It's uber geeky, but i'm absolutely devastated. I've loved playing COD online since the original, and now it's all gone Infinity Ward's attempt to prevent hacking and piracy and ruined the game and, ironically, is losing them massive amounts of sales anyway...

4, 5 & 6 all have their pros and cons...I have all 3 and play each for varying reasons.

6 is a bit of an unpolished diamond online (only got the xbox to comment about btw), and I expect to see some updates being put out very soon. Some of the 'perks' are a bit lame like Commando (you can stab someone from metres away), and the Heartbeat sensor weapon fitment is being abused heavily and is akin to cheating. A lot of people are camping out with scoped weapons, getting the kills up and bringing in air-artillery, which has spoiled the experience somewhat.

Having said that, there are many things to love about the game, with some perks and weapons being incredibly fun/useful. Some of the maps are a bit the same, but have their own personality and have some good 'kill-zones' if you know how to approach them correctly. Find yourself a few mates who play it as well, use your headset mic to co-ordinate things and call out threats, n you'll be reaping heavy rewards immediately.
