Well, Banjo proved again what a generous, giving bloke he is. The brakes on my 2001, FL1 were squealling slightly just as you pulled up. I took the car to a "mechanic" who worked on them and replaced the shoes on the rear drums. He said the disc pads on the front brakes are fine, plenty of meat on them.;)
The brakes continued to squeal and on mentioning this to the "mechanic", he said yeah, no worries, next time you wash the car give the front brakes a good squirt with the hose to clean it out, should fix the problem.;) still, no improvement, cost me $405.10 for a brake "fix"
Rang Banjo (the Guru), he knew what the problem was and I went over to his place and he spent over an hour and took off the front wheels, took off the disc pads, roughened them up to get rid of the glazing on the pads and sprayed a "no squeal" liquid on the back of the pads and replaced them.Problem solved.:D
Banjo refused any money for his time and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him very much!!!:D Much appreciated mate and Mrs. Aus thanks you too because the squealing brakes annoyed her very much!!:)
