Hey Banjo
Have you ever tried Hypnotherapy? not sure how well it works with Agoraphobia, but I had a terrrible fear of flying which was getting to the panic attack stage, which was a bugger because I have to fly a lot for work. I went to see a Psychologist who practises hypnotherapy, it didn't cure me immediately but I got progressively better from that point on and now I actually enjoy flying.
Just make sure if you do try it to use a qualified psychologist as there are a fe wdodgy hypnotherapists out there with suspect qualifications.
Na havent tryed it but its something we can look into...
I am just about the only person in Australia with no mobile phone, and I am rarely near my home phone, but if you would like to have a chat via E-mail I would love to have a talk with you. My e-mail is "johnfry48@hotmail dot com."
Many of us have some sort of irrational fear. I was too scared to ask a girl out on a date--scared of rejection, so did not find any one to marry me until I was 37. Never took a girl on a date in my whole life.
Hey Banjo, this thread is fantastic and reading through it we can all see just a hint of a smile on that mystery face I'm sure.
My wife suffered this sometime ago and she ended up learning to cope with it in much the same way you are. We found that setting a SMALL goal for the day every day worked wonders. She had many setbacks though...many a time I'd get a call to go and fetch her from somewhere or whatever. Try to keep the sense of humour too.
Your wife is a wonderful lady, and the kids too.
BTW, after about a year of this, she was able to let go of the drugs and has been great for the last 15 years now although she does suffer depression which she takes treatment for.
Good luck mate. Hope we meet in the bush one day.
