Lionel, how's the sight and new job going?
And Jim, how about your bionic ear'oles? ;)
G'day V8 Ian,
I think the contact lenses and my eyes are growing used to each other. Sometimes I can actually put each lens in with only one attempt. Other times maybe they go in within 5 attempts. Most of those attempts are all successfully under the eyelids and there are just air-bubbles in them. This means the lens has to come out and it has to be filled up with the saline again before making another attempt.
I learned a trick about using a different type of saline to wet the eye before trying to take the lenses out. I worked out that I cannot use the blinking technique that had successfully worked with the old lenses for 15 years. That technique and the new lenses turned out to be a recipe for disaster and it has been hard to break old habits. I have not had to have a third trip to the emergency department of a hospital because things did not go well while trying to take the lenses out... Touch wood.
On the job front - hmmm next topic .
Well December the 8th is rapidly approaching and that is when my probationary period finishes. Having a diagnosis of Asperger's I might be reading too much into things that have happened here. So I will wait and see how things turn out. It just so happens that the decision may be made the day after my 52nd birthday in December. I am highly critical of my own performance; that comes from being an Aspie, and I have been doing the best I am capable of. I have been working some killer hours to improve my chances of being retained. It will not be through lack of trying - my prospects of success? ... Cross fingers. I can in all honesty walk away from this job knowing I have given it my best shot.
This Monday just gone also marked my official return to nocturnal PhD studies. Nothing like adding a bit more pressure and couple more turns of the vice handle to make things just that little more intense and interesting - teehee!
Kind Regards
Lionel
Glad to hear the contacts are getting easier for you. We have our fingers crossed for you aswell on the job front.
