RR? what happened to the "Real Land Rovers have leaf springs?"
Oh my aching Back. have a RR and you will never again go to one of those leaf spring thingys.
.
Well I never would except for a Forward Control Land Rover Tipper [Tipper body made by Land Rover for Snowy Mountains hydro Scheme] that I do know about-- Have always wanted that one, but cannot afford the bucks for it, but I am not telling where it is in case one day someone gives me the winning lottery ticket--I do not buy lottery tickets but about every ten years or twenty someone will give me one. Have suggested to my son he buy it, but so far my sonresists that idea. There were 3 of these down the Snowy.
But other thanthat I love coil springs.
A RR classic fitted with a 300 TDI would be nice. With an Isuzu 4BD! or 4BE1 would be better.
RR and D1s can be very cheap if V8. And are capable off-road.
However you might have better hope of getting back your money with doing up a series LR.
Unless you buy things like ARB airlockers--assuming you are doing those-- from out of China. Spoke to "swamp rat" at Point Danger and he got ARB lockers with a compressor from China for $300-- per axle. Hate not buying Australian, but afraid that is what I would do considering what the same is from Australia. But I do try to buy Australian.
Go Range Rover.
We are doing up one, a 1991 Auto V8 that we got from GumTree for $1200 in very good condition, though unregistered. It needed 4 brand new [could have got second hand] brake Rotors, and it has a slight Radiator leak-- 250ml of fluid over 100km. Got to go for a Blue Slip Rego inspection next week, and it needs a new battery. But we do think it will pass the blue slip rego inspection.
Extras on it were a full leanght Roof Rack with running lights on the rack, ARB Bull bar, rear step Bar, 2 extra Long Range petrol tank. Where can you buy something like that for only $1200.
We are planning a Isuzu swap later, after we do rego it
Hate to dampen this, but lots of people living in Broken Hill got lead poisoning-- from the dust from the mines. They may have solved tis nowbutit was the case when I was a Pathology Technician years ago.
There are other cheap Country Towns.
PS-- I am catching upon old unread posts-- was sick for a while.
I joined face book in order to enter a photo comp, but have not looked at it for the two weeks or so since I joined facebook. Considered catching upon this thread more important, as I was behind on this one.
