Hello everybody, I just got back from Temora to see the "Warbirds Downunder" air show. What a great day, was well worth the trip and I took something like 350 photo's which I will post some up here later.
Looks like things have been happening here, Tony I don't know what advice I can give you but I would be getting rid of all things that bring back bad memories as soon as possible. Jason, that's good you recovered from your attack quicker than normal. Maybe we friends on the Forum have been helpful to you.
See ya guys, I have photo's to upload from my camera.![]()
Good to hear you had a good time away Jim.
Looking forward to seeing the snaps
Well guys, here is a small example of the hundreds of photo's I took at the airshow. The difficulty is picking a small example to show.
A couple of shots of some of the aerobatics, there were numerous aerobatics done by various planes during the day.
a Constellation airliner called Connie, coming in to land.
The plane with the best sounding motor was the Australian made Boomerang fighter, I just loved the sound of the Radial engine and the whistle of the supercharger.
A Mustang fighter, the Rolls Royce Merlin engine that powered this and the Spitfire also had a nice sound.
No airshow would be complete without the Spitfire.
This plane is owned by David Lowy of Westfield fame and here is a picture of him jumping from the Spitfire after giving us a flying demonstration.I note the flowing hair as he jumped down.
Caribou transporter.
The famous "Black Cat" Catalina. This plane will land on Lake Macquarie at Rathmines next Saturday for another exhibition.
Lockheed Hudson bomber.
Vampire Jet, on the runway in the background. The plane in the foreground is one of the RAAF Roulettes planes.
This one was really impressive, boy could it go. It is a Cessna A-37 Dragonfly, which is a light ground attack aircraft that was used mainly in the Vietnam war. I was not aware that Cessna made jet fighters.
I'll get some more piccies up when I get a chance, cheers.![]()
Back again.......
Sabre jet fighter, famous in the 1960's.
The RAAF had good representation with the Roulettes aerobatic team thrilling us with their loops and rolls. They also had a couple of BAE Hawk trainers there.
And of cause the famous FA 18 Hornet fighter, boy are they noisy.
There was even a Bofor anti aircraft gun on display, being an old birdshooter I had to get a couple of piccies. They had the guts of the gun stripped out and filled the space with electronics to simulate the noise of a Bofor firing. From my memory of Bofors, it was not loud enough.
NOW, I have saved the best to last................Drum roll please and trumpets blaring, this piccy needs no introduction
Ta Dah..........Ta Dah..........
Looks original too, it moved up and down the line of planes during the day![]()

Thanks guys, Mrs Aus and I had a ball. The next show is in 2015.
Tony, if you get a chance why don't you duck down to Rathmines to see the Catalina, we saw it last year and again we enjoyed ourselves. It's on Saturday 9th of November and if you get there early enough you will see the Cat land on the lake and taxi over to the ramp and come up out of the water. They also have a display of ex-military vehicles and vintage cars.

Well, I have looked up the HARS group (Historical Aircraft Restoration Society) , they are the group that own the Catalina, Connie the Constellation and the Caribou that was on show at "Warbirds Downunder".
I didn't realise they are so big they have quite a few aircraft, both flying, under restoration and static display on their books.
They are based at Albion Park Rail down past Wollongong, so I think my next project in six to twelve months time is for Mrs Aus and myself to go and have a look.I notice on their site, they are closed to the public at the moment because of some extensions to their hangar.

Hey Jim I hope I didn't offend you when you rang me .. You was asking for a hand & I just said PASS.. I have been working on the disco most days lately . But for some reason I have been getting realy bad headaches nearly daily , I thought it was down to the glare working on the disco & in & out of the shed sunnies on then off.. I haven't had a drink in a few days so that could be part of it ...Plus just the stress with Karen's liver..Anyway sorry if I did.. Plus you should move & id come over lots more .. Getting to your house always has me going a bit cause of the LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG way around to get to it .. Probably quicker to park at the lights & walk down the pathwaybut then id have to walk
