I took some videos as I was driving last night , they are not that exciting and some are hard to see. There is an eagle flying in one as when I came around the corner it was feeding on a dead roo.

Well, at last the Bundaberg council has contacted my daughter for details of the dog mauling and the lady who spoke to my daughter was horrified at what happened. They will be paying the dog's owner a visit. About bloody time something happened here!!!!My daughter is sending photo's of the wounds and the local hospital is sending medical details.
Hello All,
I suppose this thread started by Banjo is somehow fitting to post this.
Back in 2011 I was recommended to be part of a national research project that was designed to interview the same group of people experiencing housing difficulties and challenges every six months - originally over a two year period. There were over 30 sites through Australia where these interviews were to take place. The research went that well that it was extended so the same groups of people were actually interviewed 6 times, over a three year period. This was the first time anywhere in the world where the target people had been interviewed more than once.
Anyway, the last round of interviews has finished for me because I interviewed the last person on my list this afternoon. Every six months I have been able to work on a project and each time I had hoped to be employed in a full time permanent role and not be involved in the next round of interviews. So since September 2011 I have had two periods of casual employment each year.
I feel a bit like the Bridge Builder Lemming in the old game from the early to mid 1980s. This lemming had a backpack full of planks or stones and once clicked on they would stop walking and commence building a bridge. If the bridge builder lemming ran out of planks they would raise their arms up in the air, shrug and then merrily walk off the end of their bridge and step forth into the void.
My step off into the unemployment void might not be so dramatic. I had one of my referees let me know that the chair of an interview panel for a job I applied for had contacted them for a referee report on Wednesday.Hopefully someone will click on me and I will turn into Parachute Lemming.
There have even been a couple of jobs that have come up locally in the past couple of days that I have applied for.
I have about two hours of paper work to do with the research job and then an era will come to an end. Officially I and the other 30 or so interviewer are employed until the 11th of May. I will have two hours of paperwork and packing stuff up then..
Hopefully, as they say ... "as one door closes...."
Well that is it for me for this message. Have a good weekend everyone!
The funny thing is that with the contracts every six months and other contract work I have bought a Series 3 Land Rover each time - history will repeat itself this contract![]()
Shhh the last bit of this message is a secret.
Kind Regards
Lionel
Hello All,
My plan is to combine all the Series 3 Land Rovers I have bought that have been in various states of disrepair, engines & gearboxes plus or minus; into one restored civilian type, and one restored Military FFR or GS.
I have a cunning plan - I will have this Johnny Cash song on an MP3 player when I go into fill out the motor registry forms and they ask me what year of manufacture each vehicle is....

Just for something to do, Mrs Aus and I went for a drive up the new Hunter Expressway to Singleton. What a great road, we arrived at Singleton in just over half an hour, not much longer than a trip to Newcastle.
We had a pub dinner at the Percy Hotel, had a look at a place that was selling old bric-a-brac and I bought two old books on steam trains.
When you realise it used to take over an hour to drive to Singleton through Maitland , Greta, Lochinvar and Branxton, it certainly is an improvement. Will have to re-visit the Infantry Museum at Singleton in the near future.![]()
we traveled it yesterday for the first time. an hour an a half to the entrance and apparently an hour to newcastle. certainly was quick
