Look at me, I applied for a job a few years back at the age of 65 and got it, nobody was more surprised than me, I can tell you.
    G'day Jim,

Asperger's Syndrome and job interviews are not such a good mix. Asperger's and telephone based job interviews, like the first & third interviews were, are an even worse mix. Add to that my currently being blind and trying to read the interview questions sort of racked up a triple header. I still reckon I put in a good effort though - just not quite good enough.

Although it leaves me wondering whether a person's ability to do a job is proven at an interview? Or if it just proves the person is just good at job interviews. Stress & Anxiety associated with Asperger's are not good companions at job interviews. I was certainly amped up yesterday afternoon after I put the telephone down.

Yep Jim, the right job will come up.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Well Karen went to the doctors today & had a blood test after. The tablets she is on he said that the specialist is trying to find something that works for Karen & these drugs can be used for other things. The blood tests are to keep an eye on her white blood cell count as these tablet are know to attack the white cells. Also has to keep an eye on blood sugars as they can cause diabeties. He looked at Karens leg & told her to be careful las the big blood clot is still there & not to bump it as it could break it & then have it move through the body. Her shoulder is still sore as well.

She also got a script for me for new tablets if I can't get anymore of the ones I'm on now. The new ones are old fashioned as well meaning have to take 3 a day morning lunch & T.

Karen is quiet worried about the hair loss & it's just part of the tablets. I said well if ya go bald that good then ya can get lots of different wigs since she has always had curly hair. She could get straight ones long or short hair , different styles & colours. She wasn't to happy I said that dunno why ..

Been working on Harry all day today.

As requested Jason, here is a picture of the cover of Ron Morrison's excellent book called "Newcastle-Times Past"

Thought I would also show you Greg and Sylvia Ray's books. There are four in the series and I think you can still get them from "The Herald" Ron Morrison's book is, I believe out of print.

They are excellent books for anybody interested in photo's of old Newcastle. As a toddler I do remember trams running down Hunter Street. The trams stopped in 1950.

Yeah Lionel, life's hard. As I say we are dealt a hand of cards and we have to play them as best we can, there is no other choice. Keep going.

I think that top book is different to the one I had. Mine had a pic on front but not that big was small & in the centre of the cover I think & was a yellowish colour cover. Karen got me some books from the library today all of them on Newcastle. I'll look at them later & tell you which ones they are. I like you , Jim love to read Newcastle history.

Well worked on Harry again today. Put the fire on. Was good except wen it started to build heat the stink was bad. But was warm enough to take my jumper off. Dunno about the bad stink though. Will try it again but if the bad stink comes again I won't be using it again. I made a plate for the roof with a hole in it for the flu to go through I welded a bit to the hole about an inch & a half high all the way around it. I sealed the cap between it & the flu with sikaflex. It burnt off straight way & made it leak when it rained. So I cleaned it off best I could then used some of that epoxy metal to seal it. The epoxy I have used says it can handle heat upto 500 f. So should be fine & I used to to fill all the gaps on the sides of the stove & is standing upto that ok. The smell coule be some sikaflex left behind. The hole & flu are quiet a snug fit I made it that way. For the flu I used some gal steel down pipe from bunnings so the smell could even be the gal pipe. Dunno but if it doesn't get better I won't be using it again. But am working on Harry again I guess.

Was at the eldest daughters place today, she informed us she has successfully applied for a job as a Ranger over in the Pilbara near Karather in WA.

She is qualified to be a Ranger (no not the type that go around here and book you for parking) and applied for numerous jobs in NSW but because of lack of experience could not even get an interview.

Not to be beaten, she applied Australia wide and scored this job. Comes with a house and her transfer costs will be paid. It will mean she will be in an isolated situation, something like a 9 hour drive to Karather. I hope all goes well for her, so that means my family is slowly spreading with another daughter living in Bundaberg.

Wonder what the youngest daughter will do????
