The Series I Australian Historic Picture Project

    Welcome

As was discussed at Cooma 2018

An area dedicated to collecting and displaying historic photographs of Series I Land Rovers (1948 thru 1958) in Australia in the early years. If you know any info on the photograph please include it in the post.

I took this Photo (of a Photo) at the "National Automobile Museum of Tasmania". The vehicle on display is in the centre of the photograph, and the display explained that the vehicle was used extensively in Tasmania before good roads existed.

Note however the Series I on the right...

The Series I had a sluice box in the back and spent a lot of time with it's rear end in the Goulburn. Gold found was sold to the A1 mine.

This was on the wall at the Cooma Monaro Historic Car Club. Shame it came out a bit blurry.

Not quite in the time frame suggested, but Series 1.
This is A Bureau of Mineral resources Series 1, photographed by me while I was working as a field assistant on a geological party in the summer of 1959-60. We had four of these, but this seems to be the only photo I have of one - taken with a Kodak No 1a pocket camers, bought by my mother in the 1920s.

And a question - should I be posting here photos of my Series 1 from 1962-3?

Great pic and story John and to answer your question, old Series 1 pics taken in any era are most welcome particularly when you can tell the story behind them.
