Why you should make a time to come and see me.

    G'day all,

I’ll be honest; my job can be very frustrating. The guts of what I do are help people to have money and improve their overall financial situation. Find me a person who doesn’t want thatJ. However most people are also very busy, working, raising families, socialising, essentially doing what they do on a daily basis. So whilst it would be nice to have money and improve their financial situation, it’s just not a top priority. Hence my frustration, as I know if and when a person does make it their top priority, they come in for a free financial health check up, they see how they can have money and improve their situation.

So my goal today is see who I can show why they should make coming to see me a priority. Firstly, think of your age. Ever had the situation where you only wish you knew what you did today 2,5,10 years+ ago? That you wish you had made that a priority back then and perhaps things could be so different now. Things might be ok today, but they could have been wonderful instead. Or the way things are now, have been that way for so long that you just accept it as normal. I’ve done that with back pain. I did nothing for years until it just became part and parcel of my daily routine. I knew I should have gone and seen someone, but for one reason or another didn’t. Then I hit mid 40’s and realised if I don’t do something now, things could get a lot worse. So I did, I made a time to see a physio and now have monthly check ups and I feel 100% better. Can you see where I am going with this? Convinced?

How about this? You may have been here or know someone who has or can relate to it. You want to sell your house, your not in a real hurry, so put it on at a price that will most likely not sell. Now people who are actively looking at houses in a particular area will notice if that property is on the market for a long time and will think that either there is something wrong with the house or will make low offers assuming the seller maybe desperate. In a nutshell, the house doesn’t sell.

Roll forward a year, your situation has changed, you have lost your job, moving interstate, a babies on the way, now you need to sell. The market has changed, less buyers in the market place and rates have gone up. You end up selling at a price lower than you wanted; worst still at a loss and now can’t get the new house you wanted.
We’ve all done something similar, it’s the nasty bite of indecision or leaving things till too late. A house we’ve missed out on, a job we really wanted, an investment that went through the roof, our financial future.

The old adage comes to mind “prevention is better than the cure”. Save your self from having to make painful decisions and act today. Day’s, year’s will come and go before you know it. So doesn’t it make sense to spend 2 hours, that cost’s you nothing to see how you can have money and improve your current and future situation financially? Don’t let hindsight be your enemy, let foresight be your friend. I look forward to hearing from you,

    Regards

    Stevo

P.S. If you are not in the vicinity of the Gold Coast/Tweed/Brisbane, I can as I have with others conduct the initial consultation ( which is no cost to you) via phone and email.

Hi Stevo, just wondering if you can answer a couple of questions for me? I'm not trying to have a go here, and if you want to take this off line and PM me, I'm more than happy with that.

I am going through all my finances at the moment, and have just settled on my first investment property. All good there, and the crowd that did this offer all sorts of other financial advice as well, and I now seem to get a phone call a week from someone involved with them about the sort of things you are talking about.

While I am happy to have someone look over my situation, and advice on where I may be able to make improvments, a couple of things I have noticed that make we wonder a bit.

First is that the consultaions are free - I think I know why, but it leads into my second question - they always seem to want to sell me stuff like life insurance and income protection insurance which I niether want nor need. Is the second relatated to the first?

Again, not trying to be negitive or a smart arse, just trying to work out how this all works.

    Cheers - Gav

    Hi Gav,

Thanks for your questions, glad to answer them. From where I sit and what I do, I first hold whats called a free financial health check up and go through all aspects of a prospectives clients financial situation. Its also about getting to know each other. Just as a client is free to pick and choose who they wish to work with, the same is also for myself. It's a long term relationship.

From that initial meeting, I can guage what area's the client needs help in and what area's they maybe lacking in. I also run through various strategies that maybe applicable to them ie managing their budget through to how to pay off the mortgage sooner. From that, they then decide whether they want to have a financial plan put in place. Once the plan is done, I sit down with them, go through the recommendations and advice and again it is up to the client whether they wish to proceed at that point. Most clients do, its why they are there in the first place and that is to improve or change their situation and future.

Just as we are all so different, so will be a financial plan and what sort of outcomes are required. For one person it maybe assisting in putting together a deposit for a home, for another ( and plenty of these people in their mid 50's) who want to improve their retirement outcomes and what and how to do it.

So with respect is the "first" related to the "second" yes and no. Depends on what the client is wanting. If a client came in and had no insurance, yet had a family, debts and bugger all in the bank account, part of their financial plan would be to look at those area's for them. Whether they implemented that part, again is up to the client. It is their plan for the future, not mine. I can only advise. Also a lot of what I do is educating people so that they have a better idea of what is applicable to them and so forth. Hence why I set up https://www.facebook.com/stevosbetterlifeaheadforyou and Stevo's General Financial Advice Page | Improve your current financial position, give you certainty around your future& increase the value of your assets so people can learn and make better decisions. After all we only know what we know. Hope that helps and answers your queries.

    Regards

Now if you read to the bottom, you would have seen "P.S. If you are not in the vicinity of the Gold Coast/Tweed/Brisbane, I can as I have with others conduct the initial consultation ( which is no cost to you) via phone and email".

I have helped other forum members with general advice as well via PM. So happy to assist in that way if required. Just shoot me a PM and I'll see how I can answer any queries.

    Regards

    Stevo
