Update on the TuffAnts.
There have been a few minor setbacks on the modelling process. No biggies, it just meant we need to get the tools re-engineered to make sure it was perfect. The obvious impact is time.
The next samples are due to be made next Monday, with finishing and painting to occur thereafter. As part of TuffAnts quality control, I will personally make an inspection at the factory next week on Tuesday or Wednesday.
If they meet the expected quality standard, 2 things will occur - 1 set of wheels are sent to OZ to test fit, use, and take photos on the car with tyres on and use, the other set is sent for the official testing for corner and fatigue testings. These testings actually set the final loads on the rim and are undertaken with assistance from our Australian engineer supervising and verifying the processes to the various standards (there are lots as we are also going DOT for use in the USA as well as AU and ISO). All going well, the wheels will be on a car in AU in the first week September.
When all those boxes are ticked, we will then finally be in production which takes 30 days plus shipping and customs, another 15 days. This gives us a new final date of landed in AU in the middle of October.
So overall we have now lost about 30 days. My apologies for the delay to those who have ordered, I understand how super keen you are to hit the off-road in a set of TuffAnts, we are too, but I won’t cut corners on the quality.
For those who have ordered in good faith pre-production, as a thank you for your patience there will be an added small surprise in addition to the discounted price I will reveal soon.
I would also like to thanks everyone that has supported me with this endeavour, as always, what starts as an easy thing has taken a long time to get to completion but we are nearly there
Certainly intetested in some graphite 18"s to suit my l322...☺☺☺.
Also very keen to be an agent or contact for Tasmanian sales through my LR repair shop☺..

Well, it's finally here. The final pre-production TuffAnt 18 fitting, checking and tyre fitment took place today on a Land Rover Discovery 4 with great success.
This is the final pre-production sample that was part of the initial batch, 1 for test fitting as seen here and the others for the cornering and fatigue testing that takes place to certify final loads for production use.
There are a couple of tooling marks on these pre-production items that are a normal part of the process and will be cleaned up prior to production.
This is the final satin black paint finish in double thickness and is how the final production items will look in addition to
- Stamping to conform with various standards
- 5 x solid end 22mm chrome wheel nuts
- 1 Plastic centre cap
A huge thanks to the members that helped today with the test vehicle as mine in for repairs and the donation of a test tyre. A big thanks also to Tyre Power at Capalaba for instant tyre service today.

I've only just found this thread and feeling a bit ticked off.
I paid all that money for those Compomotive wheels and now the 18" steel wheels become available for my D4 .
They look good, I'm very keen.
Did you get any photos from further back with the entire car in the picture?
I wouldn't feel too bad, those Compo's are nice and light, and lightness doesn't come cheap! I've ordered the TuffAnt's, but if I keep adding stuff to the car I'll need to shed some weight (or offset with $$$$ & lithium & then alloy)... I'm getting close to the GVM and don't really want to spend the extra cash, but would prefer to stay on the good side of 3175kg...
These'll be awesome though if you aren't scratching for capacity or generally not too bothered about GVM.
+1, would be interested to see a pic with more of the Disco.
