Easy reverse camera integration for 2010-2011MY D4 & RRS

    Hello All,

One of the new products i've put together is a reverse camera adaptor harness, to allow you to connect a factory reverse camera, or any NTSC camera, to the touchscreen in the 2010-2011MY Disco 4 and Range Rover Sport.

The camera function needs to be enabled in the CCF, using a Nanocom, IID, AutoLogic, etc... then using this adaptor, you simply plug in the camera, and you have reverse camera functionality, like a factory camera.

These adaptors are produced by me, on my dining room table, you cannot buy them from Land Rover, they are not sourced from anyone else.
An instruction sheet is included, explaining how to wire up the camera correctly (from ign switched power, not the reverse light!) and which settings in the CCF to change.

They are on eBay for $55 Land Rover Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport, Reverse Camera Adaptor Harness | eBay but that is an inflated price to cover the eBay & PayPal fees. Camera not included in that listing.

Contact me directly for a better price, or buy on eBay if you like.

If you are in Sydney I can take care of the complete installation, also supply a good quality camera from my stock, and do the programming for you as well.

This only works with the 2010-2011MY VN navigation system, not with the earlier cars, not if you have the small screen (non-touch).

    Cheers,
    Cameron

Saw this on your thread on Performance Forums. The work you do is of astounding quality, from what I have seen I can't recommend you highly enough.

Thanks Jon, that means a lot to me, cheers.

So in addition to this adaptor cable with the RCA, I'll also be offering a longer version with a Fakra connector.

Reason for that is up until now the only 2010-2011MY cars I'd installed cameras in myself were Range Rover Sport's, but last night I put a camera in a 2010MY Disco 4.

And i was surprised to find that (some of) the camera wiring was there in the car, same like we'd seen in the 2012MY and later cars.

The video cable with brown fakra connector up in the roof, in the left side, also the power connector for the tailgate harness to plug into.

So I went fishing for the other end of that video cable, which is a brown male fakra "under the gearshift, left side of the console". Connector C1185.

Had to unbolt the whole centre console, and there it was on the left side, kind of tucked away under the carpet, next to the fibre optic pair.

This new adaptor cable goes from that brown fakra, to the back of the touchscreen and plugs in. I pulled it out to a more convenient location of course.

So this way we don't have to run a new video cable from the rear of the car to the front.

If you wanted to go the full factory retrofit with factory camera, and new tailgate harness, then this adaptor is the missing piece of the puzzle.

On this car we used an aftermarket camera, so I made an RCA to fakra adaptor for the rear, and tapped the power for the camera from the factory connector up in the roof.

This way is cheaper than using all factory parts, but a full factory retrofit would also be possible if you wanted.

I'll make up a small batch of this cable variant, and a few of the RCA to Fakra for the rear as well.

If anyone wants to do a camera install drop me a line.

    Cheers
    Cameron.

    Hi Cameron,

I've just purchased (today!) a Discovery 4 2010 2.7, and it does not have the reverse camera - just a plate above the number plate where it may have been fitted as an optional extra.

Are you still making these kits? I don't have a Nanocom, or any LR tech to configure the touch screen. Does this need to be done by a Technician?

I'm also going to be upgrading the head unit in time - should I factor this in at all?

    Thanks very much in advance
