West Indies showed a glimpse in Bellerive run-fest, but that’s all it was | The Roar
Absolute debacle....
Complete waste of time - how are they going to be able to get crowds to this sort of crap?
Did you listen to the ABC broadcast of the cricket [ I prefer that to the TV.] The West Indian commentator gave a good heads up on the problem with Windies cricket. Seems it starts & finishes at the top. W.I. cricket has at least 19 members on their board, each island has at least two, and all look after vested interests. Corruption is rife, more infighting than a political convention, promising young players are not nurtured , the list goes on. There have been three internal investigations into W.I. cricket , each coming to pretty much the same conclusions, and recommendations. W.I. cricket paid lip service to the reports, then ignored them.
I remember when the West Indies used to give us a flogging , they were the best in the World. Test cricket needs them at their best, or it may die a natural death. One way to go was suggested sponsoring up & coming young Windies players in our grade comp. , give them experience in two day cricket, at a good standard. Then make it worth the effort for them to play test cricket, rather than T20, or the Indian hit & giggle.
Bit early, see how they go in India.
