    Tassie Whisky

The good stuff is worth the praise, the other stuff is paint stripper. I recently bought a bottle passing duty free without having done my homework. I had one nip and will never touch it again.
To validate, I enjoy Single Malts from Highland park right across to Laphroig.

    Do your homework!

Yes most Tassie Whiskey is rubbish, and certainly not worth the $100 odd they charge, unfortunately, not the distillers fault for the price, most of that is tax, why they stick Australian Whiskey Distillers with this tax is beyond me, how the hell are they going to compete with overseas Whiskeys makers.
    Cheers Baz.

Lark is good stuff, but expensive compared to single malt scotch.

The article is a bit of a beat up though. If they will be using 50-100 tonnes by 2017 then they are probably using around 30(?) tonnes now. At 3 tones per hectare average production in Tasmania you could grow it all on a single hobby farm...

It is also about 0.07% of Tasmanian production, even though Tasmania is the smallest barley producer in Australia (by a long way).

So they are not having an impact on barley production as the article makes out...

I had some of Tassies best they tell me in April when i was there
It cost $17.00 a head for tasting and a tour of this very old builing and water crusher
Im not a Whisky drinker and had that thought of paint stripper after the tasting
Im still not a Whisky drinker and at a good guess will never be

I don't drink whiskey. I've seen it turn mild mannered scots into William Wallace. And change almost intelligible human beings into gibbering Celts. I no longer drink rum, for similar reasons....

I love good Single Malt Scotch.

A certain Mr Incisor informs me that Jameson (Irish whiskey) is a good drop so I'll have to try that as well.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I can second for jameson. Go the select cask if you can. It's a step above their regular drop.

    Cheers
