Women ‘not strong enough’ to race: F1 boss | The New Daily
There are no women in V8SC either. There have been attempts to find "COMPETITIVE" female drivers in V8SC, and a couple have actually driven, including one from overseas.
But NONE of them have been competitive with the male drivers.
I would suggest that F1 would absolutely LOVE to have a few women driving, but the Series being so competitive, that will not happen unless a lady comes along who can either, put up good enough times to prove that she can do the job, OR, and this is a very important "OR", a lady comes along with enough dollars to "buy" a drive,....and it ain't just ladies that I'm referring to that do that,.....plenty of drivers bring their "sponsorship dollars" with them, so they get a drive, sometimes at the expense of a better driver.
So, IMHO, FI or any form of Motorsport would have no "barriers" at all with a Lady driver, in fact, I'd say they'd LOVE it to happen,....so, all it would take, is for someone to come along who can do the job.
There is a lady currently running in Nascar, she's proven she's an OK driver & can run with the men,...also great publicity for Nascar.
Of course it's not just a matter of just getting into the seat, to reach the top level of Motorsport, ya've got to be bloody good, and learn't your craft from the very bottom. Many F1 & even V8SC drivers started off in GoKarts at the age of 4-5 Y.O.....parents (incl. Lewis Hamilton's) making massive sacrifices to keep their children racing,...it's a long road.
Pickles.
No need to worry about the V8 supercars soon - a couple more years and they won't exist as they do now. You need an audience to maintain this series, and that's all but evaporated overnight with the shortsightedness of taking the big dollars to prop the series up that Foxtel offered. Viewers down by over 90% watching it live - how sustainable is that? I watched the 'highlights' package on FTA once - that is the end of V8's for me, it just wasn't like watching it live - I already knew the outcome - it was like watching an extended news segment. A bit of a pity, but not much to be done about it.
RIP V8 Supercars - you were great once upon a time, but now will be consigned to the scrap heap of time and become irrelevant.
