Coles is owned by Wesfarmers, with 210,000 employees and 500,000 shareholders, so i think the profits mostly stay here
    Woolworths has a similar mix.

However, putting ownership to one side, i think they are both of a size which creates a unfair market dominance. Whether you could do a split on them in our legal framework is another question.

Not saying that Woolies and Coles aren't Aussie owned - I never said that - I said they are reducing the Australian content on their shelves (which they are) and I prefer to keep my money in my local town - Which my local Foodworks does - I personally know the guy who owns it, whereas all profits from the big 2 don't stay in my town - it's something I choose to do, if you don't, no skin off my back, but most people that winge about the dupoly they have seem to shop there - It was an observation is all.

Self serve checkouts I've made my point of view clearly about - they take jobs away from locals and you get ripped off even more when using them - who would do that?

As for the Australian products being more expensive Eevo, there's a thread running here about buying Australian, the common concensus is that this is a good thing and we should be supporting our local businesses. Doesn't this also apply to our Farmers and food manufactuers as well???

I'm lucky enough that the few extra dollars this may cost doesn't bother me, I know some are on such a tight budget that they may not be able to, but anyone that drinks, smokes or buys a cup of coffee can afford a few extra dollars to suppport thier local Farmers IMO, so take all that out and there aren't too many with a valid excuse IMO.

Give up 1 packet of fags or a dozen stubbies a week or a cup of coffee a day and you could do your entire shop Aussie made. No excuses really now is there.

Don't be fooled by the Woolies home brand switch.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Absolutely your choice, but don't come whinging when you or someone you know can't get a job because of all the people like you who don't and won't give a toss until it's too late.

What else are you going to spend your millions on Eevo?

I think the 2 issues are largely unrelated.
Uncompetitive industry is the problem and Australia is really uncompetitive
