Good find. I don't think anyone will find out the truth. There are the normal conspiracy theories, however. In the back of my mind I have this irrational thought of a bored young conscript sailor, thinking " I wonder what this switch is for.....".I obviously spent too much time at sea.

I have read a few articles about it and seen a few movie clips airing various theories about this tragedy. One thing for sure, it was a major stuffup by the Russians. The fact they refused international help to rescue those submariners caused (probably) the deaths of those poor sailors.

You can see the pressures for those decisions. Actually, it seems there were a lot of pressures and a lot of bad decisions that all came together to create and worsen the whole situation. People dying because of other peoples decisions.

Now, this is the ship that was said to be in the area, as well as 2 USN nuclear subs. I've never heard of her, she bears a resemblance to the Austral Catamaran.Civilian crew. Passive sonar , underwater surveillance is her game. If she was there, the Americans would know what happened.

It's been a few years since I read up on this disaster, but didn't Sweden have equipment available that had the capability to reach the Kursk, which was offered to the Russians who knocked the offer back.

ps. I Googled it. It was the Norwegian navy along with the British navy that offered assistance.

Old fashioned pride, and Russian stubbornness, I guess , contributed to some of those sailors dying. I still find it difficult to believe that the theory of the forward torpedos exploding en mass, would leave any part of Kursk habitable.
