It does not surprise me at all. The major foreign owners of agricultural land in Australia have always been in the UK since 1788, and I would have been very surprised if this had changed. I always expected that the fears of Chinese buying were exaggerated. These figures show how much.

Nothing new here! The icon usually quoted, Vegemite, was certainly started by an Australian company (Fred Walker) but by 1925 that company shared staff with the joint venture Kraft Walker Cheese company, which was bought out by the U.S. owned Kraft company after Walker's death in 1935. So Vegemite has been U.S. owned for eighty years.
