The first US Novel coronavirus case of re-infection reported, but this time the 2nd time was worse than the first. Just to shake up the theories again.

Researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory said they were able to show through sophisticated testing that the virus associated with each instance of the Reno man's infection represented genetically different strains.
They emphasized that reinfection with the virus is probably rare, but said the findings imply that initial exposure to the virus may not result in full immunity for everyone.

Genome testing is showing the current strain of Covid being found in Vic, NSW and Qld is different to the strain which was around in March.
It appears antibody resistance to the virus may only last a few months, just like the influenza vaccine.
I see they are talking of vaccinating people against Covid twice a year.
It used to be recommended that people have the flu vaccine twice, in March and September, although my doctor said this week the second flu vaccine was not necessary because social distancing and infection control have drastically cut the flu infection numbers.
That means we will need about 2 x 26 million doses of a Covid vaccine each year.
