A solar and battery thread, no bull****.

Australia’s first dedicated solar panel recycling company has locked in plans to develop its first processing facility in the industrial Adelaide suburb of Lonsdale, in South Australia, with plans to recycle tens of thousands of PV panels a year.
Reclaim PV Recycling said on Tuesday that it had committed to a long-term lease at the Lonsdale site and obtained development approval for the establishment of a solar panel recycling facility there.
The company said it was also in the process of securing environmental licenses to conduct full-scale recycling operations at an initial rate of 70,000 panels per annum and was putting the call out for end-of-life solar panels from anywhere in Australia.

Australia’s Commonwealth Bank has announced it will offer its home loan customers up to $20,000 in low, fixed-interest finance to install rooftop solar systems, battery storage, electric vehicle chargers, or other eligible green technologies.
The new product, dubbed the CommBank Green Loan, was announced on Monday as part of the Big Four bank’s “commitment to the responsible global transition to net zero emissions by 2050,” a goal enshrined in the Paris climate agreement, but yet to be formally adopted by Australia’s federal government.

New South Wales network operator Ausgrid has unveiled its first community battery in the northern Sydney suburb of Beacon Hill, kicking off a two-year trial that aims to soak up consumer generated solar and use it to push down energy prices and help stabilise the local grid.
The Beacon Hill battery, pictured above, is a 150kW/267kWh MTU Energy Pack QS. The trial is seeking to enlist the participation of Ausgrid customers in the Northern Beaches area who either have solar power systems installed already, or who are about to install one. Eligible customers can register their interest here.

How home solar and battery storage kept the lights on in South Australia | RenewEconomy

How home solar and battery storage kept the lights on in South Australia

Home solar and battery storage systems have been credited with keeping the lights on during a period of record minimum demand in South Australia in October last year, in an Australian Energy Market Operator report on virtual power plants released this week.
In a statement accompanying its latest VPP Knowledge Sharing Report, AEMO says consumer solar and batteries came to the rescue of the South Australian grid on October 11, adding roughly 5MW to operational demand at a time when it had hit dangerous record lows

The Australian Energy Market Operator has reported record levels of new projects and megawatts of wind and solar coming into the main grid in the last year, and also reveals there are nearly 10 times as many projects queuing for a spot on the network.
In its latest “State of the Systems” report, a new publication designed to enhance visibility of the workings of the often contentious grid connection process, AEMO says that 12 new wind and solar generators with a total capacity of 1,560MW completed their commissioning in 2020, and are now in commercial operation.

Does the solar industry deserve the ' cowboy' label? A podcast.

I must explain the missing link , after posting I realised that a leading building industry house builder business was named & shamed [ a little] in the post, so, remembering AULRO's policy on naming & shaming business, I deleted it. If any one wants the link , just pm me.

Australia's battery and hydrogen storage pipeline jumped by a massive 20 GW in 2020.

The number of battery storage and hydrogen electrolyser projects in Australia soared in 2020, with the capacity pipeline now rivalling that of solar PV and wind energy as developers bet on a rapid transition to a renewables-dominated grid.
New data released by the energy consultants Rystad Energy shows that 19.2GW of battery storage and hydrogen electrolysers (which can also offer storage capabilities) were added to the project pipeline in Australia last year.
(The gigawatt hour number indicating the length is not included as most projects have not fully defined their market opportunity).
This number beats utility scale solar, which added 17.5GW of new projects, and came in just behind wind energy (21GW). In total, there is a pipeline of 225GW or renewable and storage projects jockeying for a position on the grid, although it is clear that not all will get over the line.
