    Wi-Fi type Borescope advice needed

I need a borescope/flexible camera to see into some body panels, looking for tiny rust holes and joining cracks, - and I'd like a decent display, not tiny grainy 280 line cheapies.
Camera resolution of 640 x 400 should be sufficient for the purpose...

Wifi Borescope Endoscope Video Inspection Camera Android Apple Smart Phone NEW | eBay

This would suit my purpose, playing onto my SAMSUNG S4 phone (or Wife's iPhone 4) - My question from this card-carrying Luddite, ...'Is it difficult to interface the WiFi from the unit onto the phone? - I'm assuming 'not' as that's what the gadget is designed for, but...

Anybody here ever used a 'Wi-Fi' borescope,? Or would I be better off with an all-in-one unit. Co$t is an issue...

Ive used one and I wasnt impressed with it. 640x480 is only vga quality and you can get USB only versions cheaper on ebay.

I had no issue with interfacing it (it wasnt mine). While the one I was using nailed the job I needed it for (looking for a lost socket in a tool box void space) Im not sure it would have had enough resoulution for small holes. That could have just been a lighting issue however.

It appears my ebay Samsung S4 ("Sprint" network...) phone doesn't have OTG USB. But it finds and uses my modem when I turn on the WiFi function. - and when out & about, it finds and displays any WiFi it finds.... Which is why I'm looking at a Wifi device, and 640x480 seems to be in the ball park for inexpensive ones, NOT paying several hundred + $ for something I'll not use much at all.
I've got a USB evilbay cheapy and it's not impressive at all, apart from being unweildy. Nope, don't know what resolution it is, but it wasn't over $40.

Many of the budget all-in-ones have 640x480 as the camera res, but only display 320x240 ...

Anything better than 640x480 would be welcome !

EDIT:- Its not being used on Sarah, but in a Mazda Protege... looking for water leak under the windscreen area / PAX side. apparantly a common problem with a split or unsealed seam...

well no OTG kind of makes it a lot more difficult to do it cheaply unless you have a fully usb'd tablet.

and that one claims to have adjustable leds where the one I borrowed had 2 light settings on or off. So that should make it better quality than the one I used in which case I hope it nails what you need it to.

if you get one write us a review of it.

I'd be very interested to see how you go with it.

I just wasted 5 hours trying to get a USB camera probe working. Failed. Just like hundreds of other people around the world going by the number of posts all over the internet. Seems that their interface software doesnt like Windows 7.

Took it back and got a refund so still looking for a tool to do the job.

I have an all in one, and another that plugs into a computer usb for vision. The all in one is better. Don't know about wireless.

They are cheap. Quality of image is not so much of an issue. The real problem is getting it lined up to view the subject. Note, the lens housing is some centimetres long and inflexible and adds to the difficulty of getting it through small holes with enough curve on the flex to point you in the right direction.

    Borescope

    Hello All,

This is the most up-to-date of the three Tool Time threads on borescopes.

The last instalment had a Superquag waiting for the arrival of the goodies. How did the ubute wifi version go?

I would like to buy a borescope that can go down a spark plug holes of an engine that has not run for maybe thirty years. The ability to capture a video on a computer would be good.

Any one's experiences from eBay type purchases would be very appreciated. Price under $100

    Kind Regards
    Lionel
