Looks like you're screwed.
So, I snapped an impact bit in an impact driver. The driver is the 6mm hex type, where the bit holder has a magnet to hold the bit in.
any hints to get the remnants out?
I've tried:
- Using a strong magnet to pull the remains out
- Centre pop and drill out for extraction with easy out (remains are hardened steel, so not super effective)
- Needle nose medical tweezers to pull the bit out (bit wobbles but won't come loose due to magnet- tweezers not strong enough)
Exploded diagram for the bit driver does not appear to show the hex driver as a removable part (part of the gearbox assembly).
That's what I get for being lazy I guess... I was attempting to drill-start the lawn mower!

Cheers, Billy.
Keeping it simple is complicated.
can you use inertia by giving it a good whack?
To be more helpful; How about gluing something to the bit, or you could try accelerating the tool away from the bitt i e hit it very hard with something.

Dob of 2 part epoxy.
Part one onto the bit.
Part 2 on a sacraficial piece of.wire.
Press.together let it set and pull.
If you can drill it a self tapper will also get it out

Snapped impact driver bit
After that little adventure I think that the fretting induced on the 6mm hex bit from driving clockwise is the main reason the remnant won't just spit out when the collet is pulled forward.
Where did you get the bit from? Brand?
cheers, DL
I wouldn't suggest using the ebay Titan brand 1/4" hex drive to 3/8" square 'impact' adapter. Even if in drill mode...
