The 2 stage one does make things a bit easier.
I'm assuming you have a clear floor 2 poster though ?
Looking for recommendations on what to look out for when buying a transmission jack to use with a 2 post hoist.
Current need is to remove the LT230 and auto from the D2, but also in the family fleet we have the 130(R380), county(LT95), and likely others would be LT85 or Isuzu 5 speed.
Its not going to be used commercially.
I've never used before as I've always done any trans work on the floor - either pulled the engine and box out complete, or faffed around with trolley jacks etc from underneath.
Seems to be 2 main types - single stage style with a long jack (around $200), and 2 stage with a shorter jack body ($350++).
Is it worth paying the extra to get a 2 stage one?
Any thoughts on this Vevor one?

I have a 'thing' that came with a 77 2 door that had all the fruit, including an R380 and LT230.
I'll post a pic of it tomorrow (I'm pretty sure it's a trans adaptor to a jack). Yours for nix if you want it.

Some work went into making this................dunno what it was for.

Thanks for the offer DL - but think I'll pass on it this time. Aside from it proving to the minister of domestic affairs that I can actually turn down "free things", I can't actually think how I'd use it!!!

That thing looks more like it was made for mounting a hi lift jack onto a spare wheel carrier(mounted on rear door, or in an RRC instance, bumper mounted swing away)
iI's supposed to go onto the wheel carrier with the centre plate (unbolted)removed, then the spare gets mounted onto the plate and tube, then the central plate and inner tube gets slid on over the wheel(and rebolted again)
You can confirm by placing it on a hub(or if you have external mounted rear carrier) .. the three holes should line up with three studs to confirm this.
There should also be one other piece that clamps the highlift jack onto the plate with the two studs, and is shaped to match the v groove on the side for holding the handle tight.
Hope it all makes sense.
Arthur.

Ended up getting this one:
0.5 Ton Hydraulic Transmission Jack Stand Gearbox Lifter Hoist 2 Stage Stronger | eBay
$275, and actually more solid than I expected.
Those are 50x2 SHS with 6mm lugs for the casters.
