Hey Damien
We had a soft floor off the side (trailer was custom made -top was made by a guy in Cranbourne, name escapes me) and we went away in it for 4 months.
We have also used a Kimberley Kamper
Our view is that the hard floor are definately the way to go. We used to get a bit over cleaning the soft floor, especially when we were on the move alot and only staying 1 night. It seemed that it took just as long to clean the dirt from the underside (even with a ground sheet it got wet) as it did to pull down.
We loved how quick and easy the KK was. even set up in the slosh and mud.
But i'm not sure if you are only talkin soft floors so may have got off the track.
I think that off the side allows for a larger tent area - great if you have a large family etc. but uneccessary otherwise.
I dont think that the kitchen area or orientation matters, both work well if you have an awning and some side walls
Sleeping can be an issue with off the side as you have to climb over each other![]()
My vote is the Tvan![]()
