Anyone know what is the max time a 3 way can sit before you have to start turning it over to get it too work?

Have no idea Gary, but at a wild arsed guess I'd say operate once a month should be sufficient.

I don't know what the instruction book or the official specifications say, but the Electrolux in my camper works perfectly after sitting still for at least a couple of months. I can't remember the longest it has sat still but it could be 3 or 4 months.

Just a thought - you could leave the caravan plugged in with everything off, and a timer on the fridge that ran it for say 15 minutes once a week.

it starts to separate out as soon as you turn it off. how long it takes to separate out to the point where the cycle cant restart is from 2 weeks to 12 months depending on the the size of the unit (bigger takes longer) its condition (if you have "burning" inside the heater tube then the mix needs to be closer to right for it to start) and the ambient conditions its kept in (from memory they stay workable for longer if they are kept warm)

if It was me Id work out what the current draw is on 12v and then wire a simple battery and solar panel to it with a low voltage cutout unit then you can set it and forget it. As the fridge draws the battery down the cutout will turn it off then when the battery is charged up again it will cut back in.

Good thread this one. I have a 35 year old Sweedish 90 l Electrolux. It has been sitting for ages but used to go gangbusters. ..well fitted by Golf. Now the freezee is - 15c and the fridge is 11c...I am time poor and I think I will take it for a good drive rather than trying to take it out...should the fridge be on 12v when rough road driving to shake up the chems? I.re-wired it. Used to get 10.4 volts on the original Golf wiring now with 10mm 135amp wiring its 13.4 wben turned onto 12v

I rapped on the coolant tubes gentlish with a hammer. ..within an hour the fridge temp dropped fom 11.4 degrees to 6.5...should be 4 or lower soon hopefully.

Gotta love old 3 ways....on 240v down to 0.3c in the fridge overnight. I have put in on LPG and I had the door open for a few mins, only 3 bottles of water and after lighting the Gas its down to 2.1 in the fridge in an hour...nice.

My old three way copes with 3-6 month off . I just plug it into the mains 24 hours before go away, then put in on 12 on the way, and gas when we get there. Being perfectly level is definitely a requirement. Mine still manages to freeze food and its very easily 12 years old.
