Dave, like the ' before you missed a 1 between the $ and the 3.

nope, Ive already sent a similar trailer brissy to perth, depo-depo on CEVA for $300.
It only cost me $700 for frankenrover from adelaide to brissy
FWIW Was driving home to Bris today from Toowoomba. A couple of km on the Bris side of the Gatton bypass near the Ripcord parachute club but on the other (southern) side of the highway is a used machinery yard. In said yard was the trailer off a semi, loaded with several military trailers in camo colours. I only got a chance for a quick glance:angel: but they appeared to be displayed for sale...
I am not sched. to go back for about a week or so but if they're still there, I'll call in and see what gives...
Well I bit the bullet and grabbed 2! Will post some photo's when I get them here, but if you wanna try and have a look on Manheims site they were lots 289 and 291 in the NT Truck and Plant Auction today.
Will be keeping the nicest one for a mild (read ONLY minimal and reversible modifications) camper trailer conversion. After roadworthy and rego'ing I will be adding a frame and mounting my rooftop tent on, then partioning tub for camping gear and then getting a repro canvas to cover it all and complete. Will aim to keep the overall look as per the RAAF trailer in Mick Marsh's photos below (but just a little taller to enable roof top annex to set up alongside).
It all prompts a couple of early questions... What is the done thing as far as paint? Should it be left as is or resprayed? Where does one get a Hayman Reese pintle set up like Micks? Has anyone done this type of conversion (nothing came up searching here)? What should I aim at trading the Mrs 100 series on to tow it?!?
Dave,
It's easy to get the pintle and mounting hitch thingy.
They can be bought from a caravan/trailer shop I'm told and they appear on ebay.
My pintle came from ebay and the mount came from a towbar shop in South Melbourne.
They look like this.
Hope to have it looking like this with roof top tent on frame under the canvas.
Dave, you need to learn how to cut and paste images.
They were photo's off my phone downloaded via ForumRunner...
Coming home from Adelaide now.
