    Camper trailer recommendations

I am struggling to work out which camper trailer to buy and would very much appreciate recommendations.

I have two teenage kids and want a rugged offroad setup which can handle some tough work. I also need something which can be setup quickly without hassle for overnight stops and short weekend breaks and has room for the two kids as well without having to spend an hour setting up an annexe and messing around with lots of poles and ropes. Preferably with a good kitchen and a battery etc.

My favourite overall set up is the Trak Shak which is the best and most flexible design I have seen to meet those requirements but they are too expensive and I have seen too many bad reports on quality.

Budget is up to $20k but would prefer to spend $15k and happy to buy a good second hand unit.

Have a look at Redback campers, IMO no more stuffing round than a trak shak, and they are a lot more solid underneath

    Cheers

if if were to buy new would go trackabout (within budget), otherwise look for second hand you might get something suitable.
no.1 in my opinion something that requires limited poles to set up is best.

without trying to sound like an advert we are rather happy with our Castle Camper, the main tent will house 2 adults on the king size bed and 2-3 adults on the floor, takes around 10-15 mins 4 poles, 2roof braces, you dont have to put up the annex (it lays on the roof), if you do you double the floor area.
they are even selling the tent part separate now so you can install them on your box trailer (he uses Nathan trailers brand Brisbane)

price is well within your range

Looking at the video and having a fair bit of experience with camper trailers and seeing the price of the above trailers they appear good value for money, depends on the ease of putting them up and dust proofing etc are some the things that I would look at.

to erect the main part i only need a hand to initially standup the tent off the trailer and unfurl from there i make it a one man job (wife gets in the way) and it takes me casually doing it around 10-15 mins. to then put up the annex (not with walls of floor, havent done that yet) another 10-15min again not rushing and just a bit of mucking around to get the first pole up and stable, again on my own. i have sen some people take longer to set up a Caravan!. have a talk to Aiden who owns the company very good bloke to talk to. i havent been anywhere too dusty unless you count a dirt road at Boonah at 70klm/h, no dramas all sealed

You forgot to mention that the trailers are made by Nathan Trailers here in Brisbane and they also have a 5 year warranty on the trailer.

We have just taken delivery of a new fully optioned Trak Shak... its a great bit of kit..... I cant wait to take it out in the tough stuff. We were worried about the quality and everyhting else as its very hard to find info on the company thats not people on forums with a personal vendetta.

Time will tell but any issues it has its still such a good base to work with that I could easilly resolve them and still have a great camper that suits us.

Your budget would get a pretty tidy 2nd hand unit that would be made in AUs with the leaf spring set up, we were going to get one and then thought we would get new as then we can get everything we want as many of the older 2nd hand ones dont have the kids room and the annex included as they are options and were dealbreakers for us.

my second choice would be camprite but when we looked even the poverty pack was out of our reach.

    Good luck
