Hi Guys,
Back in October I did a trip with the family through Broken hill to Camerons Corner in this rig, the old trusty 77 RR and a hired Deluxe Camper. The camper when set up offered two queen size beds up top and room 3.2mx3.5m plus an annex. Great to tow and cheap to hire over 4 weeks at around $ 33 a night. If you only did this kind of thing once a year, its a worth a serious thought. (and no I have nothing to do with this mob except being a happy customer.. lol) Took about 20 mins to set up, and 16 mins to fully pack down with the help of SWMBO.
Its got a great amount of storage underneath, and a seperate ss kitchen. The kitchen is the only thing we debated over unlike some of the fancy pull out units you see. But we found it great to just plonk under a tree if we wished away from the camper as well.
That Tambo that Bytemrk showed, is also another nice unit and looks good value for money. A mate of mine just finished towing his all around Australia and he is very happy with it.
Regards

You are right Rob, The kitchen in these things is a BIG decision. Some like the fancy jobs with all the bells and whistles - Me ... I'd rather save the $$$$$$ and spend it on things other than a kitchen! Luckily SWMBO is on my side with this one..... cause I do all the cooking when we camp - the kids do all the washing up .... so she gets a break - I can make a mess - then drink beer while the kids clean up   .......Ain't life grand...
Anyway back to Kitchens...While it might be great to have the convienience of the big slideout job- in many Campers they take half the space.. so we elected for just a basic sheft on the tailgate. Works fine for us. Gas suts on the outside and I use a big Colman 3 burner stove - either sits on the tailgate shelf - or I carry a tressle so can setup where ever we want that way.... like you I like the option to do what seems right for the particular site...
