Man dies after portable toilet fire in Harrisdale
Andrew
well after a great week at Sale, we started to get itchy feet so I rang the repairer only to be told because the van itself was damaged, not just the awning, it would have to be "assessed",,
When?, we asked,
Dont know said CGU,,
Bye Bye said us,,,
We are now on the banks of the Hazlewood powerstation pondage.
Which is a whole 'nother storey---
I do wonder what would happen if we were booked on the boat to Tassie last week---
We now have water damage showing on the inside roof cladding,, must have clouted the aircon good and proper!
another repairer quote done,
seems it will need all the inside roofing replaced,, still, got to visit 90mile beach and Heyfield,, I can recommend the pizzas at the Railway pub in Heyfield,,,;)
over two weeks since the accident,,
thats two weeks OFF the other end of our trip---
Pedro, ask the repair to use Sikaflex marine 291.
Is excellent for fitting deck hatches and porthole on ocean going yachts will be good for the van.
Also when they do the roof get a tin of Thermoshield Insulation Coating System.
I used it on my motorhome and also in the roof of shipping containers in my farm.
It not only insulate but also form a membrane wich will stop water getting in of the joins.
Cheers
Finally some sort of action,,
no no dear reader,, not repair type action,
silly you!
It seems we now have a firm date to start the repairs......
in another 11 days.
yes thats right ELEVEN days,,
and then the repairs will take another 5--

urrgghhhh.... I fear sikaflex adhesives on caravans. If you glue something in with that stuff... imagine if it leaks 'cos you missed a bit somewhere .... or imagine if the item needs to be removed at some point. Your going to destroy the caravan trying to remove it. urethane adhesive is way stronger than caravan cladding and framing.
It's bad enough trying to remove a bonded in window from a car .... imagine if you have a window fitted in where the repairer "hydrauliced" the sikaflex right through for example a caravan window. That window is now there for the life of the caravan. no force known to man will remove it
