That's exactly my thoughts!!! They are a really good design well thought out and lots of unreal features and I'd happily pay the price they are in south Africa but not double it and a bit more!!!

I've got a UEV 390. I love it and so do the family. They are expensive no doubt about that. They do work very well out the box.. I have a mate with the commander and he has towed it as intended, through the bush for weeks on end, never a fault or failure.
The canvas work is superb and so is the rest of the construction. I think the biggest plus is that they are light weight but have everything and tuff to boot.
Huge choice out there, but I chose this one!

Thanks for your help they look bloody awesome and I love everything about them nothing else seems to come close so smartly engineered I was liking the uev440 but I just find it really had to come up with the huge money and then the price difference between us and South Africa blows me away even more!! But great to hear from people who have them and love them!!
Before an official distributor arrived in Australia there was a mob in Adelaide importing, modifying for compliance and selling them.
When we went and met with them they wanted $37k on-road with all options.
By the time we were ready to buy (6 months) they were no longer selling - Australian distributor had established - and the price was now close to double.
They are a fantastic unit though, brilliantly thought out.
I understand that a major upgrade to the suspension is made in Australia along with some other changes. I guess that would contribute at least in part to the increased cost.
The Mission Trailers imported by Mulgo look like a worthy competitor (within their segment) (see Mission Trailers - off-road family camper trailer built for Australia).

I knew they did have a few changes over the South Africa models but double the price seems a bit steep!!
Damn that would have been half reasonable for $37k!! But I have to agree they are an awesome awesome well thought out design and i dont think much would come close to it!!
I just cant cough up the $50+ starting price for something that might get a few weeks use a year it seems so steep!! But i do love them!!
We got a UEV 490 in Sept 2014 and totally love it. It is extremely well designed. It suffers from some build quality issues that we have had to repair, but to be expected. Fully loaded, yes they cost as much as a house, but we think it is worth it.
We have made modifications and extensions to the canvas and added storage boxes. Tows brilliantly.
we got the evolution which is 'the lot' and also added a methanol EFOY fuel cell for more 12v (about a two/three weeks of 150 amp hours per day from a pail of methanol. All up no change out of $90K (Fuel cell was $12K). Came with solar panels (roll up type), webasto hot water system, 90 litre luna fridge, custom axles to suit the D4, airconditioning for when we have 240V power. We got the full awning sets that go both sides of the van. The list is a lot longer and i will dig it out. We have 315 Amp Hour batteries on board with the system managed by a Redarc controller. Sleeps 4 inside very comfortably. Wife and I use the space where the table is which is a full king size size bed, and kids have front fold out bed (queen size).
Some of the rubber seals were very poorly attached and we have upgraded them from the cheaper polypropylene type to neoprene which keeps its shape better. Also had to fix a number of seals between panels where the sikaflex was not properly applied near rivet holes. Disappointed at the sealing stuff for the price.
Wow that is certainly up there in the price department but comes with a fair whack of options jeeze they are a really nice looking set up bloody jealous haha although i just wouldnt get to much use out of it for the price as i feel i would possibly use it for 2 to 3 weeks a year.
I can certainly understand why your not happy with the sealing i would feel exactly the same it would be like buying a new discovery and then having to reseal all the doors haha!! But they are a gorgeous combo D4 and conqueror they look like the best trailers out there!!
